Cambridge Writers’ Workshop 2018-2019 Internship Applications Now Open!

The Cambridge Writers’ Workshop welcomes internship applications for the 2018-2019 academic year.  The CWW is seeking interns in the fields of Graphic Design, Media Arts, and Editing and Communications.  Accepted interns are eligible for Federal Work-Study credit.  Internships will run from November 1, 2018 – end of May 31, 2019.  Application Deadline is October 15, 2018.  Applicants can be based in Cambridge, MA, or can work remotely.  Apply at cww.submittable.com.  More information below:

Hours: 5-10 hours per week (Cambridge, MA or remote commuting)
Duration: 1 year (renewable)

The Cambridge Writers’ Workshop, Inc. seeks interns for our creative media team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Attending regular meetings with the executive board
  • Designing clear and engaging graphic communications for print and web. This will include logos, branded promotional items, web site and social media graphics, posters, flyers, and other marketing materials as needed
  • Basic HTML coding
  • Researching creative inspiration
  • Reading and following art and design news

Ideal candidates:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign)
  • Basic knowledge of HTML
  • Knowledge of Illustrator
  • Experience producing content on a timely basis
  • Possess energy, enthusiasm, sense of humor, people skills, creativity
  • Have organizational skills, strict attention to detail, & ability to meet deadlines
  • Interest or experience in publishing

  • Researching new media platforms and techniques

  • Contributing to our Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook pages
  • Attending regular meetings with the executive board

Ideal candidates:

  • Have experience and familiarity with audio programs including, but not limited to, Audacity, Adobe Audition, WavePad, etc., as well as video programs including, but not limited to, Adobe Final Cut and Premier, iMovie, Avid, etc.
  • Have experience producing content on a timely basis
  • Possess energy, enthusiasm, sense of humor, people skills, creativity
  • Have organizational skills, strict attention to detail, & ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interest audio/video editing and publishing experience

Announcing Our New Editing and Communications Intern: Amanda Toronto

The Cambridge Writers’ Workshop is pleased to announce the newest member of our executive board. Amanda Toronto has officially joined the team as our newest Editing and Communications Intern. As the Editing and Communications Intern, Amanda will be aiding the CWW in our upcoming programming and communications projects. We’re so pleased to have Amanda join us and we can’t wait to see what she brings to the team.

Amanda Toronto received her Ph.D. in English and American literature from New York University where she focused on contemporary American literature, art and religion. She lives with her family in New York City and is at work on her first novel.  You can follow her on Twitter @TorontoAmanda

Meet Emily Smith, our new Editing and Communications Intern

EmilySmithPictureWe, at the Cambridge Writers’ Workshop, are excited to announce a new member of our CWW team.  Emily is our new Editing and Communications intern from Manchester, New Hampshire:

Emily Smith is an Editing and Communications Intern for the Cambridge Writers’ Workshop. Originally from Sarasota, Florida, she currently attends school at the New Hampshire Institute of Art where she studies Creative Writing and Art History. She writes for Opposing Views, Highbrow Magazine and a number of health websites run by Deep Dive Media. Her poetry has been published in Walleyed Press, Essence Poetry, and Ayris.
